Founded in 2014 the Ballet Theatre of Washington is a non - profit student ballet company. Under the direction of Nancy and Mick Gunter the company provides performance opportunities, special supplemental training and performance trips to dancers. Each year the Ballet Theatre of Washington awards Summer Scholarships to company dancers looking to further their dance training through pre-professional intensive programs. Productions include full-length classics and original works created by directors and dancers. When possible, BTW also does outreaches into the local communities, bringing the joy of dance to Centralia and the surrounding area.
Under the direction of Mick Gunter the Men's Program offers guys of all ages and dance backgrounds the opportunity to dance and perform. Recognized internationally for its awesome group of guys the Men's Program is one of the largest student guys group in the nation.
BTW seeks to build a Company that reflects the diversity of our community by providing access and opportunity to students and individuals interested in dance and the performing arts. This season the Ballet Theatre of Washington will be presenting its Moonlight Madness Ballet Showcase in October, its annual full length production of The Nutcracker in December and its newest production of The Sleeping Beauty in April.
It is our passion to cultivate an appreciation for the artistry and athleticism of ballet by staging affordable, full-scale productions for the Centralia-Chehalis area and surrounding rural communities. Ballet Theatre of Washington strives to provide opportunities for local dancers to extend their training beyond the classroom setting through experiences that will challenge and stretch them as performers and provide a glimpse of the world of professional ballet.
